How it started
During the COVID-19 pandemic, 62 veterinarians from the 1986-1991 batch of the
Veterinary College, Bengaluru, India, established the "Reminiscence Welfare Trust"
in April 2021. The trust was formally registered as a non-profit organization with
the Government of India (Registration No. BK IV 163/22-23, dated August 2nd, 2022).
Guided by Professor Renukaradhya J. Gourapura, PhD, and led by Col. Dr. Jagdish M (Retd),
Dr. Sridharamurthy S.R., PhD, and other compassionate classmates, RWT has collectively
contributed over ₹43 lakhs (~US$50,000) to date, all in compliance with tax regulations.
To date, RWT has identified and supported more than 250 beneficiaries, initially focusing
on COVID-19 patients and later expanding its efforts to include:
- Education for underprivileged children, especially girls from first grade to professional degrees
- Support for poor farmers engaged in animal husbandry
- Assistance for individuals with mental or physical disabilities
- Community health initiatives
Now in its fifth year, RWT continues to grow, inspiring veterinarians and other professionals
to undertake similar community initiatives. Our vision is to empower people and support
developmental efforts in rural and small-town India.
Our Mission
To help fund the education of underprivileged, talented students in rural areas and small towns,
and to improve the livelihood of poor farmers engaged in animal husbandry activities.
